       Since the 1960’s TV cartoon show The Jetsons first aired Americans have been dreaming about the possibility of cruising around in ground to sky vehicles.   The future is upon us and that dream has become closer to reality.  Behold the “Transition  Flying Car” from Terrafugia whose parent company is no stranger; Geely Holdings who owns Volvo Cars, Lotus Cars and China Euro Vehicle Technology.  Terrafugia started in 2006 by six MIT graduates is headquartered in Massachusetts but the company’s research and technology division happens to be here where no one does cutting edge better.          The two seater convertible flying machine is powered by a single 100hp 4 cylinder fuel injected internal combustion engine for flight made by Rotax, an Austrian company owned by Bombardier.  The drive mode utilizes hybrid electric motors probably similar in design to the Toyota Priu ... read more

VW to Sell ID Crozz Electric Crossover, Starting in 2020

Volkswagen announced that it will sell its new electric crossover – ID Crozz – in the United States staring in 2020. ID Crozz is a mid-sized crossover about the size of 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan.  The range is touted to be about 300 miles, not too shabby!  It’s also supposed to be capable of an 80% capacity charge in just 30 minutes using a 150-kilowatt CCS fast charging. Not much else is known about the car at this time.  We will keep you informed of future developments. Volkswagen has really jumped into the electric car market with its ID.3 (we blogged about it couple of months ago), now with their ID Crozz compact crossover and its plans to have production capacity of over 20 million electric cars per year by 2028. Heard about the Barnacle? It’s a device that is quickly making the boot obsolete.  The boot has been used in the Midwest and on the East Coast as a driving deterrent for non-ticket paying drivers. Attached to the car’s wheel the boot restrains the wheel from rotating and forces the car to be towed away rather than driven.  The Barnacle attaches to the car’s windshield with two pumps and it’s deters driving by obstructing the drivers view of the road.  The device is impossible to pull off as it resists hundreds of pounds of pulling pressure.  Also a siren will blare if someone attempts to drive the car with the device installed.  The Barnacle is user friendly.  Just call the phone number on the device, pay the outstanding tickets and you’re given a magic code which unlocks the Barnacle.  The driver then leaves the unlocked Barnacle on the sidewalk to be retrieved by parking enforcement.   The need for the car to ... read more
