Berkeley Bob's Foreign Auto Repair is Open During Shelter In Place
We are open for business. The work we do is deemed “essential” therefore we will remain open during the mandated Alameda county health officer’s shelter in place order. Travel to and from Berkeley Bob’s is also considered essential and is permitted. Our business hours are the same.
While we understand most people are trying to figure out their plans for the next couple of weeks we want you to know this is an excellent time to get your car in. Having your car brought up to date with servicing and take care of any delayed or overdue repairs make good sense. Many of you may have neglected your car in favor of bus, BART or rideshare transit. Going forward it will likely be several weeks or months before public transit will be safe again. Your personal car is your best transportation option at this time.
We are offering a NO PERSON TO PERSON CONTACTOPTION for your automotive needs. Here’s how it works:
- Call to make an appointment.
- Drop off your car before hours and put the keys through our roll-up door mail slot.
- Wait for call from Shelby or Sean to discuss repair options.
- Give your OK to do repairs.
- Pay with credit card over the phone.
- Pick up your car parked in front after hours.
If you don’t want to drop off before hours we can still take your car in for service or repair. We ask that when you arrive you obey the social distancing guideline and stay at least 6 feet away from any other customers and staff members. To make your visit as brief as possible, if we know you are coming we can prepare paperwork in advance which will speed up the drop off process. The same will apply to pick-up.
Sorry, we are suspending “wait” appointments during this health crisis and we have closed our customer coffee station. We are doing as much as we can to limit the chances of exposure.
As always our technicians use latex gloves while working on your vehicle, nothing has changed there. We are following CDC guidelines and continue to sanitize any hard surface that comes in contact with our customers, outside business partners and staff. These surfaces are not limited to but include the counter, credit card terminal, telephones, door knobs, toilet and faucet handles. This is done routinely and frequently.
All of our employees have been informed about the Covid-19 Coronavirus and have been instructed to wash hands frequently for 20 seconds with soap and hot water, also to use gloves when operating a customer vehicle and to stay home from work if they feel ill or exhibit any of the early disease symptoms.
Rest assured the safety of our community at large, our customers and the Berkeley Bob’s crew are our #1 priority. We appreciate your cooperation during this unsettled and stressful time.
